Visiting Chairman of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations (SCFR) Kamal Kharrazi conferred with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on bilateral ties and regional developments.
The two sides underlined the need for a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
Kharrazi's visit to Syria takes place after his official visit to Lebanon earlier.
Kharrazi arrived in Beirut on March 16 to hold talks with Lebanese officials on major regional developments including the issue of Syria and situation in Lebanon.
